The Milking Parlour
Cockshotts Farm in Sabden is a family run farm of several generations, providing fresh milk from their large herd of friesian cows, on Pendle Hill, Lancashire. The Gill family required a striking logo that incorporated a friesian cow, to adorn their classic glass bottles and entice locals to buy fresh unpasteurised milk direct from the farm.
We quickly decided to use a black and white theme, printing only in black, to utilise the fresh, creamy milk colour.
Photos of the local herd were supplied and these were used to create the logo. Creating a simple silhouette of the instantly recognisable Friesian Cow, famed for its milk.
As branding and logo design experts, we also applied our professional skills to the overall brand. To start with, we experimented with various designs and compositions for the logo. A mix of handwritten and serif typefaces were chosen to update the classic logo and give an edgier, modern feel. Font selection proved to be a great starting point. From here we moved onto colour the palette, adding a friendly and warming red to the monochrome. A fresh green would have been an easy choice but the deep red really helps to emphasise the farmhouse feel and friendly service provided by the Gill family.
